Bellefonte Area Middle School Reviews

The academic programs are on track, but not exceptional compared to many other schools in the country where Math and Science are very advanced. All in all we feel our children are getting a fair education. Most teachers are enthusiastic and dedicated, and the administrators do an excellent job working with parents and students to make positive changes. It would be nice to see more intramural sports programs for students who love to play but are not considered athletic enough to be chosen for the school teams. Parent involvement seems fine when it comes to volunteering at the school. Bellefonte parents could be more involved with their children's social skills. Hard drugs, gangs and violence are virtually non-existent, but things like verbal bullying and cliques are a distraction to many students. All in all, BAMS is a good school, and Bellefonte is a safe and pleasant community to live in.

Teachers in this school are very devoted and we have had good experiences with most of them. The Bellefonte school district seems to have kids that are very click oriented. Academic programs seem ok, other than the music program which I find very dissapointing at the middle and high school level. If you don't have the right last name, your chances for getting anywhere or being liked or encouraged are nill. Parent involvment is good for the most part. I find that families of children who do well academically are the most involved.
